President's Message
(May 2025)
Dear Fellow Woodturners,
Greetings to everyone and hope you are all well. The SKEW last month was terrific; might be the best one we have had. The SKEW, in my opinion, did just that. Thanks to everyone for participating and getting involved. A big thanks to Ralph Rochon, Lloyd Glenn, and Alan Richard for some awesome tutoring and giving everyone an opportunity for a hands-on lesson.
The demonstrator for the May 3, 2025, meeting (beginning at 9:00 AM), will be Alan Richard. He will demo the turning of a tool handle and at the same time, give a refresher course on Safety. Keep in mind the first president's challenge, a goblet/chalice, is due at the June meeting. The second challenge will be a tool handle. Alan will show how it's done.
The "Bring Back" was won by Ralph Rochon, a bowl which was turned by Ron D'Aunoy. I'm anxious to see what Ralph will "bring back".
A big thanks to Darrell Gregory for recording the minutes of the April meeting in the absence of Lenny Nederveld. On behalf of the membership and myself, thanks to Dr. Jose Santiago and David Stonicher for the donuts and boudin. We did not have a "Show & Tell" last month; but we are definitely entertaining a "Show & Tell" for this upcoming meeting. Please bring your piece(s), we all have something to teach and hopefully, we all have something to learn.
Looking forward to visit with you at the May 3, 2025, meeting.
Cordially,
Garland J. Barras
President
